I refer to this series as The Color of White, which is primarily inspired by my experience of Alaska's immersive and beautiful white-on-white winter landscape. Created by using three separate images captured over time, each artwork in this series usually an hour or so to shoot and then blended over one another to create a colorful multiple exposure image. Mountain landscapes inspire me. Growing up in West Texas's flat planes offered the distant summits of New Mexico, Colorado, California, and now Alaska a certain allure. When I see a mountain, my eyes move skyward, seeking the peak. ~ Tom

⋙ Field Notes

The Summit Lake image sequence was all created between Lower Summit Lake, Moose Pass, and Cooper Landing. This high traffic stretch of the Seward Highway, countless photographic possibilities. Low clouds revealing and then concealing the mountainside created the almost complementary color scheme of Summit Lake 02. I love how the use of rock texture, almost abstract in its quality, plays with the color created by the clouds' movement.
