Alike is a photographic body of work, generating conversations regarding our use and understanding of nature. This series focuses on re-contextualizing the linguistic signifiers we give to objects, juxtaposing items with similar physical attributes or namesakes, creating a dialogue between etymology and taxonomy. My work is a product of a background in design, conservation education, travel, and growing up on a Central Oklahoma ranch. I'm proud to have shown in museums and galleries across the United States, including Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, Non-Fiction Gallery, and the University of Wisconsin.

 Field Notes

The stick bug comes in many different varieties. Some are bland such as the Alaskan Northern Walkingstick, and others like the Winged Walking stick (the Anchiale Buruense pictured here and not from Alaska) is quite exquisite! Walking sticks are a part of all ecosystems and have a wondrous camouflage system. The Alaskan sticks were collected on my travels from Seward to Denali.
