Alike is a photographic body of work, generating conversations regarding our use and understanding of nature. This series focuses on re-contextualizing the linguistic signifiers we give to objects, juxtaposing items with similar physical attributes or namesakes, creating a dialogue between etymology and taxonomy. My work is a product of a background in design, conservation education, travel, and growing up on a Central Oklahoma ranch. I'm proud to have shown in museums and galleries across the United States, including Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, Non-Fiction Gallery, and the University of Wisconsin.
⋙ Field Notes
I love Alaska, but sometimes I miss the incredible food of San Antonio. The spicy flavors of San Antonio's Mexican food will always stay close to my heart, keeping it warm in the chilly Alaskan winters. This photograph tries to bring those two themes together. These chilly chili peppers were frozen outside during an Alaskan winter and then broken apart to photograph.
